The promotional chocolates industry is seeing a sharp rise in orders

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

The promotional chocolates industry is seeing a sharp rise in orders, as is typical of this time of year in the run up to Valentines Day.

As one of the busiest periods of the year for the industry, Valentines Day presents a wealth of opportunity for companies to promote their brands through promotional chocolates in a more personal and also quirky way, in tune with Valentines Day.

This period of the year is one of the busiest for the industry, with promotional chocolates being produced at rates only otherwise seen around Christmas and Easter. As the date gets even closer, companies are warned to get their orders in on time so they can start to capitalise on the period early!

Why Japanese women dislike Valentine’s Day

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

Women all over the world are hoping to receive flowers, gifts and chocolate from men today - a sign of affection to mark Valentine’s Day.

But in Japan, things are different. Women are supposed to give chocolate to the men in their lives - boyfriends, co-workers but especially their bosses.

The Japanese call it Giri choco, or obligation chocolate, and it’s big business.

Senior executives receive dozens of chocolate boxes from their female staff, which they often take home and feed to their families and children.
